Hikari House is ideally situated between Joshua Tree’s main park entrances. We recommend the North Entrance to Joshua Tree National Park, it’s typically the easiest way in with little to no traffic.

Our off-grid system is designed to feel seamless, so for most guests it feels just like a normal home. Everything you expect, lights, outlets, hot water, heating and cooling, Wi-Fi, works as usual. We just ask guests to use the washer & dryer during peak sun hours and not at night, we have ample water and battery backup for all your regular needs.

Because Hikari House runs on an off-grid solar and battery system, you may occasionally notice a soft hum from the inverter and or backup generator during peak power use (such as when the batteries are charging or higher-draw appliances are running). On rare occasions, you might also see a brief, momentary light flicker at night when a large electrical load kicks on, like the HVAC. This is normal for off-grid systems and should not affect your stay.

Every room is outfitted with essentials for comfort and calm, think plush organic queen beds and organic silky bamboo bedding, filtered water, AC and heating, luxe bath amenities from Le Labo, and more. All rooms feature fully private blackout curtains with outdoor access.

While we adore our animal companions, to maintain a serene, allergen-free haven for all guests, we kindly ask that you leave pets at home. Thank you for your understanding and care!

Yes, there is an option to heat the pool for an additional fee of $100 per night. Because heating takes 4+ hours to reach temperature, please share in advance which days you would like pool heat and we will have it ready for you.
