House Rules

Kindly remove shoes inside. This helps ensure a clean and lasting space for all.

No smoking indoors. If this rule is violated, you will be charged for a full professional cleaning/deodorizing service and assessed a $500 fine. If you choose to smoke outside, please dispose of all smoking materials properly, no cigarette butt littering. The desert environment and surrounding plants are extremely dry and can ignite easily. We take this very seriously and we ask you do the same to take extra care to prevent fire hazards.

While we adore our animal companions, to maintain a serene, allergen-free haven for all guests, we kindly ask that you leave pets at home. Any offenders will be charged a $500 fine and a full professional deep cleaning.

Hikari House is fully off grid, powered by a high-capacity solar + battery system with a Generac backup generator, as well as our very own well and septic system. These systems are designed to keep your stay comfortable year-round while minimizing our footprint.

You should not need to worry about power outages, but we kindly ask that you are mindful of energy use after sunset, when the home is running primarily on battery reserves. For that reason, please do not use the washer or dryer after sunset.

Please no running or jumping indoors.

Septic note: Please flush only septic-safe toilet paper. Do not flush wipes (even “flushable”), paper towels, feminine products, or anything else.

Safety Rules:

You are responsible for supervising your group, especially children, at all times. The property is not childproofed and may include hazards (pool, patios, steps, uneven surfaces, and hanging chairs with a drop behind them). By staying, you acknowledge these risks and agree to use the property at your own risk. The host is not liable for injuries, accidents, or losses related to your stay or use of amenities. Children must be with an adult on both patios, including the pool and hanging chairs.

For the safety and security of our guests, and because Hikari House is a remote off grid property, we have installed five exterior security cameras. They are positioned to monitor the driveway, entrances, and perimeter only, while ensuring respect of your privacy at all times.
